Boxing Day Stalemate
By Steve Roberts
Little Common 0-0 Langney Wanderers
The Boxing Day derby turned out to be a bit of an anti climax as both teams looked to not give anything away early on.
It was Langney though that started to look the more threatening and they started to create a handful of chances but without really testing Matt Cruttwell seriously in the Commoners goal, While Dan Hutchins at the the other end had very little to do during the first half.
Probably the best chance of the half came in the 38th minute after good work from Evan Archibald to release Max Hollobone, he delivered a lovely ball in for Trevor McCreadie, whose turn and shot was tipped over the bar superbly.
Half Time 0-0
Little Common came out with much more attacking intent second half and began to get on top for the first 20 minutes, Langney also then started to make unforced errors and began giving the ball away far to often for Kenny McCreadies liking. Dan Hutchins was starting to get called in to action and had to make some excellent saves, but much like Crutttwell nothing that was too testing.
Langney once again started to find there feet and dominate possession. In the final 10 minutes we once again started to test Matt Cruttwell with handful of efforts, mostly on the back of good work from Max Hollobone. Langney could have won the game with last kick after goodwork from Tariq Straker forcing Cruttwell into another smart yet comfortable save.
Full Time 0-0
Overall I think both teams will be happy with a point given recent results. Not a classic game of football to say the least but perhaps one Langney could have got more out of after creating several good chances in both halves.
